Frank E. Gonchoff resides in Moundsville with his wife, Tonia Sue Standiford Gonchoff, and their two sons Drew and Devin. He graduated in 1988 from John Marshall High School where he played football and was a member of the Ski Club. Frank attended West Virginia University where he studied Psychology and Behavior Science. While at W.V.U. he belonged to the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Frank served as a Specialist in the 463rd Engineering Battalion of the United States Army Reserves. In 1995 Frank graduated, with honors, from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Having served an apprenticeship at Grisell Funeral Home in Moundsville, Frank was licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1995. Frank worked for 3 years in Beckley, WV for a corporate funeral home where he served as a Funeral Director, Embalmer, O.S.H.A. Compliance Specialist, Crematory Manager and Pre-Need Counselor. In 1998 Frank returned to Marshall County and began working for Kepner Funeral Homes in Wheeling, WV. Frank served as Embalmer, O.S.H.A. Compliance Supervisor and Crematory Manager for almost 10 years. Frank proudly serves the communities of Marshall and Ohio County as a Funeral Director & Embalmer. Frank was the Assistant Coach for McNinch Elementary Lions football team for 5 years and Cameron Young Dragons tackle football team for 3 years. He is a member of the Moundsville Lions Club.

Amy Greenaway is a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer. She graduated from Wellsville High School and holds her mortuary science degree from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Amy also received a Master degree from Capella University. Amy began her funeral service career after 20 years as a social worker with The Counseling Center, in Lisbon, OH. She served her apprenticeship in Sidney, MT, as a Funeral Director/Embalmer. She returned to the area in 2017 and continued her funeral service career at Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science until she joined Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists- Martin & MacLean Chapels in 2020; where she can now serve families in her hometown.

Amy resides in Calcutta with her husband, Wade. They have one daughter, Halee Greenaway. Amy is a member of the Calcutta Rotary, board member of Calcutta Cemetery, served on the East Liverpool Pottery Festival committee as well as the Wellsville Alumni Committee. She also was a past member of the Sidney Elks Lodge 1782. Amy also spent several years as a Zumba Instructor where proceeds of her class benefited the Wellsville Alumni Committee.

Eric L. Shields joined Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in 2006 working primarily as an embalmer part time until 2008, when he became a full time member of the staff. Eric is a 1994 graduate of Ohio University, Athens with a Baccalaureate degree in Exercise Physiology and a 1995 graduate of The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Upon completion of his mortuary science education, he began his career in funeral service with the Schoedinger Funeral Homes in Columbus where he was employed as a funeral director / embalmer for their Hilltop and State Street Chapels.

Born and raised in Harrisville, Ohio, Eric is the son of Charles and Dolly Shields. He is the father of daughter Alexa and son Logan. In 1997, Eric became affiliated with the Wilson Funeral Homes where he was embalmer/funeral director, pre-arrangement counselor as well as manager of their Dillonvale branch.

An avid sports and outdoor enthusiast, Eric enjoys many activities including golfing, hunting, and motocross racing, and is a diehard Steeler’s fan.

Grace Furbee is licensed funeral director at CARE Funeral & Cremation Specialists – St. Clairsville Chapel and Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes. She joined our team in 2020.

Grace is a lifelong Ohio Valley resident and a 2017 Saint Clairsville High School Graduate. She attended Cleveland State University and Belmont College and went on to obtain an Associates of Applied Science in August of 2020 and a Bachelor’s Degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in December of 2020, both with Magna Cum Laude Honors. In addition to her funeral director and embalming training, she is also a Certified Life Celebrant. Grace is the current Ohio Funeral Director Association District 12 president.

Grace and her boyfriend, Dom Wallace, live in St. Clairsville with their dog, Rook. They enjoy spending their time with family and friends, traveling and watching live sports.

Hillary (Horvath) Glasser is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for CARE Funeral & Cremation Specialists and the Altmeyer Funeral Homes. She joined CARE Funeral & Cremation Specialists and the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory in 2003 as a Funeral Assistant while attending college, until she became licensed in 2008. Hillary graduated from Shadyside High School, attended Muskingum University, and graduated from Point Park University and Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science with a Bachelor’s degree.
Hillary is an active member of the Lincoln Ave United Methodist Church in Shadyside, Ohio. She resides in Shadyside, with her husband, Kurt and their three children, Gunnar, Gannon and Knoxxly.

Jay is a native of St. Clairsville. He is a graduate of St. Clairsville High School and Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. His education also includes time at Ohio Northern University and Point Park College. Jay is a member of the St. Clairsville Lion’s Club, the St. Clairsville Masonic Lodge 32nd Degree Mason, Sunrise Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Saints Club, St. Clairsville High School Jr. Sports, St. Clairsville Alumni Association, and Board of Directors for Valley Hospice, Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers, Stone Chimney Club, Thoburn United Methodist Church, and Thoburn Choir. He and his wife, Trudy, have three children and six grandchildren. Jay likes to go golfing, boating, and fishing in his free time. He also enjoys quality time with his children and grandchildren.

Robert Griswold is a graduate of Buckeye West High School, Belmont Technical College, graduate with distinction from The Pennsylvania State University and Ohio University. He is a former Ohio Valley Red Cross board member and is a licensed Funeral Director in Ohio. Robert worked at Wilson Funeral Home before working as a Foreman at Shoemaker Mine. Robert Griswold joined our Belmont County team in November 2020.

Robert and his wife, Kristen, live in St, Clairsville where they are raising their three children, Taryn, Presley and Rachel.

Joanna Fowkes is currently an Apprentice Funeral Director and Crematory Technician for Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes. She joined the team in November 2021.
Joanna is from Moundsville and a graduate of John Marshall High School. Upon graduation, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from West Liberty University, and a Master’s Degree in Teacher Leadership from the University of Phoenix.

Joanna went on to become a teacher for four years, and then went into banking where she was a Customer Service Supervisor and a Branch Manager for nine years. Becoming a Funeral Director has been a lifelong dream.
Joanna lives in Wheeling with her three beloved cats, Memphis, Tennessee, and Bobo Bronco Poptart. In her spare time, Joanna loves to exercise, read, listen to music, play euchre, and spend time with her family and friends.

Dana joined Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes as a Funeral Director/Embalmer Apprentice in June 2023. She is a graduate of Shadyside High School and continued her education at The University of Akron where she graduated with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Community Services Technology. She then went to the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in 2012.

Dana resides in St. Clairsville with her dog, Blaze. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, hanging out with her friends and family and watching the Buckeyes during football season.

Wayne is a graduate of Albany High School in Albany, Ohio in 1966. He then went on to graduate from Kentucky Christian College in 1970. Wayne has been in ministry for 53 years. He is presently in his 32 year at the Beallsville First Christian Church in Beallsville, Ohio. He has served churches in Kentucky, Hawaii, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio.

Wayne and his wife, Linda Evans Clark, celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 17th, 2020. They have a daughter, Linaka Stein who lives in Wheeling, WV and a son, Greg (Rebecca) who lives in St. Clairsville. They have 4 grandsons and 1 great grandson.

Wayne started working for CARE Funeral & Cremation Specialists in February 2020. Wayne said, “I have certainly enjoyed working with ALL of the staff. Everyone here is so SPECIAL! I have appreciated the opportunity to serve several families by presenting the funeral message.”

Mary Ellen Rich serves as Family Services Counselor for the CARE Funeral & Cremations Specialists in Moundsville, WV. A life-long resident of the Moundsville area, she is the daughter of Jack and Mary McKee. She graduated from John Marshall High School and West Liberty State College. She stays very active as the mother of three children, as well as serving others in her church and community.

“It is my privilege to assist families with difficult decisions,” she says. “It gives me great pleasure to help people plan ahead and relieve their loved ones of the emotional burden of arranging a funeral during what would be a highly stressful time.”

Rich served as a substitute teacher in the Marshall County School System before beginning her career with the Altmeyer Funeral Home in 1994. She joined the Family Services Division in 1996. Jim Altmeyer says, “I am so pleased that Mary Ellen has joined our Family Services Division. For the past four years she has helped so many of the area families in a compassionate and empathetic manner.”

Michelle Reven joined the CARE Funeral & Cremation team in March 2022. Michelle is a pre-arrangement specialist serving CARE Chapel in St. Clairsville and Bauknecht Altmeyer funeral homes in Bellaire, Shadyside, and Powhatan Point. She is a native of Bellaire and now resides in St. Clairsville with her husband, Matt, and her son Ridge.

Michelle graduated from Bellaire High School and Belmont College with a degree in Mental Health. Michelle has worked in healthcare for many years. She has almost a decade of experience providing grief support to hospice patients, families, and the community.

Michelle states, ” It is an honor to assist families with pre-planning their funeral needs. Pre-planning seems to be the final gift that an individual can leave the people they love.”

Sarah Barickman : Outreach Director

Sarah Barickman is the outreach director for CARE Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Belmont County, OH & our WV chapels. Sarah creates and coordinates community outreach opportunities that increase awareness and support for CARE Funeral & Cremation Specialists’ mission and services. Through her many years of volunteer work and event coordinating, she thoroughly enjoys the opportunity of helping others.

Sarah has been a part of the Ohio Valley for over 20 years with her husband, Mike & their 2 children, Lilly & Haden. Sarah is an active member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Rotary of St. Clairsville, as well as many other community organizations. She leads a healthy, active lifestyle and enjoys local travel with family and friends.
