Wood, Violet J. “Blue”

Wood, Violet J. “Blue”, 76 of Wheeling, WV died Saturday, February 08, 2014 at Ohio Valley Medical Center.

She was born April 11, 1937 in Moundsville, WV the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Nora Anna White.

Violet was a homemaker and a member of the Moundsville Moose Lodge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley R. Wood in 1996; brother, Albert White; two sisters, Mary Burge and “Sunflower” Bobby Sue Nestor; great grandson, Tyler Austin Wood, two daughter-in-laws, Sylvia Dunlap and Bertha Wood.

Surviving are her five sons, Joseph Wood and Sam (Nicki) Wood of Wheeling, Charles (Jan) Wood of Powhatan, OH, Thomas (Beth) Wood and Bill (Leanne) Wood of Moundsville; three daughters, Bobbie Sue Wood, Nika (Gerald) Wood and Nora (Rich) Wood of Moundsville; thirty-one grandchildren; forty-four great grandchildren; her dog Digger; cat , Babe; six sisters; brother and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Tuesday, February 11 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at CARE Funeral & Cremation Service, 1500 Second Street, Moundsville, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 12 at 11am with Pastor Penny Calmbacher officiating.

Interment will be at Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens in Wheeling, WV.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the OVMC ICU, fifth floor nurses and Valley Hospice.
