William Lee Bowers of East Liverpool died on November 2, 2019 at Trinity West in Steubenville. He was born in Steubenville on October 16, 1947 a son of the late Robert and Mildred (Grimm) Bowers. Having been a lifelong resident of the area Bill was a graduate of Jefferson Union High School Class of 1967 and a member of Longs Run Presbyterian Church. He was a very proud Vietnam war Veteran of the United States Navy. While in high school Bill was on the one and only 1965 undefeated Jefferson Union football team. He coached youth sports for over 58; The Calcutta Bulldogs of the Bill Booth Football League and at the Oldtimers Baseball Complex. He retired from First Energy in 2008 as maintenance supervisor after 39 years of service. Bill was also an avid golfer, hunter and absolutely adored his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife: Darlene K. (DeVault) Bowers whom he married Dec 28, 1967; a son: William “Billy” Bowers of East Liverpool; a daughter Angela K. Brown and her husband Edward of Lisbon; a sister: Millie Orris of Amsterdam OH; a brother-in-law: Harry DeVault and his wife Sandy; a sister-in-law: Babe Harding and her husband Alan of Irondale and four grandchildren: Natalia Miano of Berkley CA, Brianna Leigh Bowers of Pittsburgh PA, William Parker Bowers of East Liverpool and Maddy Brown of Lisbon as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by a brother Harry Bowers and two nephews Daniel DeVault and Joey Longo.
Services will be held at the Martin MacLean Altemeyer Calcutta Chapel on Thursday November 7, 2019 at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Longs Run Cemetery.
The Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday November 6, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM
