Vernon Lee Knox, Jr, 84, of New Martinsville, WV passed away on June 5, 2023 at Sistersville General Hospital. Vernon, known to many as “Buddy”, was a former resident of Moundsville, WV.

He was born September 7, 1938 to the late Vernon Forest and Dessie Luella Knox.

Vernon married the love of his life, Judith Eileen (Hill) Knox, in 1959. For 64 years, they enjoyed their life and family together on their farm. He was a graduate of Moundsville High School and the Elliott Business College in Wheeling, WV. Vernon was a successful and innovative agricultural businessman, operating Knox Farms & Hauling. They moved from Moundsville to New Martinsville in recent years. However, Vernon continued to enjoy antique tractors and farm life.

His parents and a brother-in-law, Harry Edwin Grimm, precede him in death.

Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Judith Eileen Knox; three sons, Donald Knox, Daniel (Sandy) Knox of Moundsville, WV, and Vernon Glen (Lisa) Knox of Wheeling, WV; two sisters, Janalene Grimm and Mary (Jim) Herrick, both of Moundsville, WV; grandson Kyle Knox and step grandson Brad Moore, both of Wheeling, WV; step great-grandchildren Bryson and Madison Moore, both of Wheeling, WV. Additional survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Vernon’s wishes. He will be cremated. A memorial gathering will be held from 1 to 3 pm, Sunday, June 11, 2023, at CARE Funeral Home, 1500 2nd Street, Moundsville, WV

    Judith & Family, I hated to hear about Vernon's passing. He hauled our cattle for many years and I always enjoyed the opportunity to talk with him about the cattle markets. We often compared notes of how they were selling up home vs the livestock yards I worked throughout WV. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
