Shirley M. White

Shirley M. White, 83 of Calcutta, Ohio passed away at her residence on Thursday, May 16, 2019 following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Steubenville, OH on December 31, 1935 the daughter of the late Newt Brewer and Martha (Latimer) Mechling. Shirley lived most of her life in this area and was a graduate of Follansbee High School; owned and operated several apartment complexes in the area and attended the old St. John’s Episcopal Church in Follansbee, WV. She enjoyed playing Canasta, sewing and cutting grass.
She is survived by a son Scott White of Calcutta, Ohio.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William W. White whom she married May 29, 1956; her step-father: Andrew F. Mechling Sr.; a son Greg White and her friend and companion Ralph Hickman.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM.
It was Shirley’s wishes that no services be held.
