Russell Edward “Red” Plants

Russell Edward Plants, “Red”, 68, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV.

Red was born October 21, 1950, in Glen Dale, the son of Alberta Morris of Moundsville and the late Russell Everett Plants. He was retired from the former Triangle Conduit & Cable Co., Glen Dale, and then retired from Edwards Trucking. He enjoyed farming and working on his cars and trucks. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and his dog, Buddy.

In addition to his father, Red was preceded in death by his step-mother, Beverly Plants. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn L. (Goddard) Plants; two children, Ralph Plants of Louisville, Ohio, and Becky Cross of St. Clairsville, Ohio; three step-children, Russell Goddard of Wheeling, Matthew (Holly) Gray of Moundsville, WV, and Michael (Jen) Gray of Chaumont, NY; three sisters, Mary Plants, Judy Plants and Patty Derrow, all of Moundsville; 11 grandchildren, Carmen and Nicky Gray, both of Moundsville, Chelsea Gray and her fiance’, Wes Loughery, of Wheeling, Hannah (Colt) Dougherty of Wheeling, Jovi Goddard of Wheeling, Maia Goddard and her fiance’, Doug Glaser of Wheeling, Alexis Carver of Chaumont, NY, Ralph Lee Plants, Jr. and Courtney Ann Toth, both of Louisville, Ohio, Derek Cross of Seattle, WA, and Nicole Presher of Bellaire, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew and Gabriella Dougherty, Layla Goddard, and Jason and David Smith.

Friends will be received from 10 am-2 pm and 4-8 pm, Thursday, at the CARE Funeral Home, 1500 Second Street, Moundsville, WV, where funeral services will be held at 11 am, Friday, July 12, 2019. Interment will follow in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard, WV.
