Gifts & Memorial Donations

Ross Willison Johnson died peacefully Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the age of 88. He was surrounded by his loving family in his Bellaire home. Ross was born September 5, 1933, a son of the late Oscar and Nellie (Bass) Johnson. He grew up on a dairy farm and loved telling stories of his childhood with his siblings Taylor, Roland, Alice, Clarence (Stella), Earl, Bill, and Lois.

Ross spent four years in the Air Force during the Korean War, serving his country as the true hero he was. He enjoyed sharing memories of his time in Thule, Greenland, which always brought a smile to his face. He returned home and married the love of his life, Mary Katherine (Passa), and spent most of his years as an Ironworker, Local 549 Wheeling, West Virginia, until he retired in 1994.

Ross is survived by his three children; Ross Jr. (Glenda), Kevin (Kelly), and Troy; as well as his grandchildren; Kayla (Michael) Estes, Ross III (Jessica), Kevin, and Gillian; and his great grandchildren; Gianna, Micayla, Ross IV, Michael Jr., and Kianna. He has many nieces, nephews, and cousins that he cherished dearly as family was always his priority.

Ross loved spending time in his garden and relaxing in the pool. He was a huge sports fan and attended every extracurricular activity his children and grandchildren participated in to show his support. He will be greatly missed by many, but we know that he and his daughter, Tammy, will be watching over us from heaven.

There will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held at a later date to celebrate Ross’ life. Arrangements by Care Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 204 W. Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio. Share your thoughts and memories with Ross’ family by going to carechapel.com.
