Gifts & Memorial Donations

Ronald Lee Kettler, 82, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died on September 15, 2022 at home.

He was born in Wheeling, WV on February 13, 1940 son of the late James F. and Myrtle Marie Weston.

Ron was a former French and Spanish teacher in the Ohio County School System and was affectionately known by his students as “Senor Kettler”. He also worked for several years in the furniture department of Sears at the Ohio Valley Mall, where he made many friends. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and later Christ Lutheran Church. He was a deeply faithful man, serving as a deacon as well as a member of the church council. He loved attending services and community events and enjoyed the fellowship that the church provided. He loved life and was always striving to make everyone around him feel comfortable, and was always ready with a joke. Ron was an incredibly kind man, even until the end of his earthly life. He never complained, even when faced with the incredible pain of his disease. He loved all animals and had a heart of gold.

Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Edna Schaal Kettler, two daughters, Michelle Renee Wilson of Litchfield Park, Arizona, and Shannan Watson and her husband, Dennis of St. Clairsville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Delaney Renee Kemp, Alexis Noel Watson, and Drake Watson of St. Clairsville; and Mia Bella Wilson and Noah Anthony Wilson of Litchfield Park, Arizona; sister, Sharon Kettler, of Sun City, Arizona; nephews, Jeff Kettler and wife Lisa of Moundsville, WV, and Dr. Jason Kettler of Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. James E. Kettler. Also surviving are his incredible care team who have been with Ron 24 hours a day for the last two years, helping to make his last year’s as comfortable and as peaceful as they could be. The family will forever be grateful for Wendy Stewart, RN, who not only cared for Ron in his time of need but has become like a member of our family.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to remember the incredible person that touched all of their lives.

Ron had a passion for animals and loved taking care of his numerous pets over the years. Because of this passion, Ron wanted to assure the families who love their furry family members as much as he did would be able to help them in their time of need. As such, memorial contributions can be made to New Horizon Animal Hospital Angel Fund, 52635 High Ridge Road, St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950.

Personal condolences and/or flowers can be sent to 204 W Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950.
