Robert Wilson Baer, 84, went to be with his Lord on May 7, 2023.  He died at his Lisbon home surrounded by his family.

Bob was born February 20, 1939, in Smock, Pennsylvania to Allan and Mary Baer.

Bob married Judith Ann Martin on November 9, 1957.  The two were lifelong companions and friends.  They were blessed with two children: Robbie and Brenda.

Bob joined the U.S. Armed Forces in 1957, where he received training in equipment maintenance at the Engineer School at Fort Belvoir.  Bob worked at Horsehead Corporation, formerly St. Joe Lead, in Monaca, Pennsylvania until 1998, and was known by his friends as “Yogi”.  He loved to teach his children and grandchildren about cars, hunting, and gardening. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.  He was a member of Everyone’s Welcome Church in Salineville, Ohio and will be remembered by many of his brothers and sisters in Christ as the “Candy Man”.

Bob will be forever remembered by his wife, Judith Ann, his daughter, Brenda Gilbert, and husband, Frank; grandson, Christopher Baer, and girlfriend, Alexis Nile, grandson, Sean Baer,  grandson, Joshua Gilbert, and wife, Sarah, grandson, Jeremy Gilbert, and wife, Katie; and great-grandchildren: Hailey, Giada, Zariah, Hannah, Ainsley, and Wilson; sisters-in-law: Eleanor Baer and Joan Baer, brother-in-law, Larry Martin, and wife, Donna, sister-in-law, Marlene, and husband, Bob,  brothers-in-law: Bob Martin, Rick Martin, and James Aikens, brother-in-law, Jerry Martin, and wife, Cindy, brother-in-law, Ken Martin, and wife, Patty, brother-in-law, Mark Martin, and wife, Patty, brother-in-law, Chuck Martin, and wife, Drane; Robyn Cole and Cheryl Brumley and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his son, Robbie; daughter-in-law, Diana; father, Allan Baer, and mother, Mary Minerd Baer; brothers: Charles, Harry, Jim and Tom, brother, Francis, and wife, Bertha, brother, Roy and wife, Judy; sister, Emma Yeager, and husband,  Paul, sisters:  Mary Dillard and Virginia Staff, father-in-law, Donald J. Martin and mother-in-law, Martha Frances Martin, sisters-in-law, Barbara Martin, Donna Rae Martin, and Sharon Aikens, and brother-in-law, Lanny Martin.

Visitation will be held at Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists- Martin Chapel, in Calcutta, Ohio, on Wednesday, May 10th from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM.  The funeral service will be held at Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists- Martin Chapel, in Calcutta, Ohio, on Thursday, May 11th, at 11AM.  Burial will follow at the Beaver Cemetery in Beaver, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, the family is encouraging friends and family to share the love of Christ with teenagers in Columbiana County.  Donations can be made to Young Life of Columbiana County and can be sent to Pastor Ted Ludwig at 37853 State Route 39, Salineville, OH  43945.
