Robert “Bob” J. Berher

Robert “Bob” J. Berher, 86, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2023.

He was born on August 9, 1936, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Anthony and Mary Berher.

Bob was a graduate of the St. John’s class of 1954. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bellaire Council 1246 and American Legion.

His professional journey was marked by success and commitment. He was Regional Manager and Director of Sales at Grocers Development Corporation, Original franchiser of Convenient Food Marts. He also served as a Real Estate Agent at Century 21.

Bob’s devotion to his faith was evident in his membership and active participation in St. Mary’s Church in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

A U.S. Army Veteran, Robert demonstrated his patriotism and willingness to serve his country.

Bob is preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Berher Halloran and his siblings, Joseph Berher, Richard Berher, Beverly Berher Blaney, Antionette Berher Haynes and Andrew Berher.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife of 65 years, Marie (Kazmirski) Berher, and their children: David (Janet) Berher of St. Clairsville, Ohio; Thomas (Mary Ellen) Berher of Centerburg, Ohio; Rene Copeland of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and Suzanne (Neal) Mundie of St Clairsville, Ohio. Additionally, he is survived by his cherished grandchildren: Matthew, Jonathan, Lana, and Amy Berher, Marie Copeland and Joseph Pavelek; a sister, Helen Berher Toth of Brea, California; sisters-in-law Delores Berher of Montgomery, Alabama and Gloria Berher of Silver Spring, Maryland; a brother in law, L. Conrad Blaney of Heath, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Bob’s life was one of dedication, perseverance, and love for his family and community. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.

Family and friends will be received at CARE Funeral Home 204 West Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 6:00pm-8:00pm and Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm with a Knights of Columbus memorial service at 3:45pm and a Vigil at 6pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church, 212 West Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio with Father Thomas Chillog. Interment to follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, Ohio.

    Diane and I lived next door to Marie and Bob for 30 years until we moved to Atlanta. Couldn’t ask for nicer neighbors. Bob always had the right tool for me to borrow when I needed it. His friendship will be missed. RIP Bob.
