Opal Elizabeth Stewart, 87, of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, April 28, 2023.

She was born May 7, 1935 a daughter of the late Cubert and Maggie (McKelvey) Howard.

Opal was a retired Teacher’s Aide with New Covenant Academy, was a longtime member of East Richland Friends Church and was active within the St. Clairsville Senior Center.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Richard Stewart, her beloved daughter, Leslie Stewart, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Opal is survived by her two children, Susan (Fred) Sulek of Flushing, Ohio, Patrick Stewart of Dillonvale, Ohio, sister, Vera Meadows of Empire, Ohio, grandchildren, Bobbie Jo, Mandy, Robert, Jacob, Brandy, seven great- grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.

Family and friends will be received at Care Funeral Home 204 W. Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Additional visitation will be held 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am on Friday, May 5, 2023 with Rev. Jerry Wenger officiating at Care. Inurnment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center of St. Clairsville, Ohio by going to TMCFunding.com.
