Nelda Jean Cunningham

Nelda Jean Cunningham, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 20, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born on June 14, 1938, in Moundsville, WV, a town that held a special place in her heart.

Nelda’s life was marked by dedication and service. After many years of hard work, she retired from BB&T Bank, where she served as a representative and loan officer for new accounts. Her commitment and expertise made a lasting impact on her colleagues and customers alike.

Away from her professional life, Nelda had a passion for baking. She delighted in creating delicious treats for her loved ones and sharing them with friends and family. Her warm heart and kind spirit were evident in every confection she lovingly prepared.

Nelda was an active member of Limestone Presbyterian Church, where she found solace, support, and a sense of community. Her involvement in the church was a reflection of her deeply rooted faith and her desire to nurture and care for others. She cherished her church family and considered them an essential part of her life.

Nelda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Roy L. Cunningham. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Brady L. and Alma (Francis) Snyder; and brother, Roger Snyder, and sister, Patricia Long.

Those left to cherish Nelda’s memory include her daughters, Anita R. Ott and husband Frannie of Moundsville, WV, and Annette D. Stout and husband Mike of McMechen, WV. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Brady Ott; Ronald (Stacey) Stout; and Benjamin (Angela) Stout, as well as her great-grandson, Myles Ott. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Robert (Carolyn) Snyder; sister-in-law, Brenda Snyder; and brother-in-law, Carl Long.

A memorial gathering and service to celebrate Nelda’s life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Limestone Presbyterian Church, located at 5704 Waynesburg Pike Rd., Moundsville, WV. The gathering will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m., followed by a meal at the church.

Nelda Jean Cunningham will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her dedication to her family and friends, and her delicious baked goods that brought joy to those around her. May her spirit of love and compassion be an inspiration to us all.
