Margie Irene Stacey Moffett, 95, of East Liverpool, passed away at Valley Oaks Care Center, on Sunday, July 11, 2021 surrounded by her family.

 

Margie was born in East Liverpool on October 30, 1925, the daughter of the late Russell “Shorty” and Thelma (Wilson) Hess.  She attended East Liverpool High School and lived in the area her entire life.  Margie was employed as a Finisher with William Bloor’s East Liverpool Porcelain Works and later with Hall China.

 

Margie married Earl “Midge” Moffett on October 6, 1942, and from their union three children were born.  Margie and Midge spent the next 45 years together until Midge’s death on February 22, 1988.

 

Margie loved life and enjoyed being in the company of her family and friends. She was always up for an adventure and spent as much time making memories with her family as she could.   She was a member of the Moose Lodge #122 in East Liverpool, she was also a member of Elkton United Methodist  Church.  Margie also loved the monthly charter bus trips she took with her daughter to Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, PA.

 

Left behind to cherish her memory are: her children, Kathie (Terry) Milhoan, and William “Bill” (Fonda) Moffett, of East Liverpool; six grandchildren: Scott Moffett, Amy (Randall) Sonntog, Jeffrey (Melissa) Milhoan, Stacey (Will) Armstrong, Brittany (Jason) Pugh, and William “Billy” Moffett (fiancee Angelica); she also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Moffett. Margie will also be missed by her canine companion, Gunner.

 

Along with her parents and husband, Margie was preceded in death by: her son, Earl “Buster” Moffett, and her four brothers: William, Laird, and Edward Stacey, and Richard Applegate.

 

Visitation will be held from 2PM-4PM and from 6PM-8PM, on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists- Martin Chapel in Calcutta.  The funeral will be held at 11AM on Friday July 16, 2021 at the funeral home with Pastor Kathy Barton officiating.  Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.  

 

The family would like to give a special thank you to the employees of Valley Oaks  Care Center in East Liverpool for the loving care and compassion they showed Margie during her stay with them.  The family would be honored to have donations be made in Margie’s name to: Valley Oaks Activities Department: 500 Selfridge Street, East Liverpool, OH  43920 or Elkton United Methodist Church 42490 Fairmount Road, Lisbon, OH  44432

    So sorry to hear of Mrs.Moffett's passing. She was a wonderful woman and treated all of us neighborhood kids like one of her own. She always had me call her grandma and put a smile on my face everytime I saw her. She will be dearly missed. I will not be able to make the services, as much as I would like to, but please know that you all are in my thoughts at this difficult time. **Hugs**
