Leonard Frank Reed, age 71, passed away at the OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield on Monday, June 8th, 2020, after an extended illness.
The son of the late Leonard A. and Helen (Cameron) Reed, Frank was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, on July 1,1948. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School, class of 1966, Frank was an honors graduate of Youngstown State University with a B.S degree in Metallurgy. In 1997, Frank moved to Ontario, Ohio, where he worked at the A.K. Steel Mill as a metallurgist until he retired in 2003.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and belonged to the V.F.W. #66 and the American Legion Post #736 and was a lifetime member of E.L.H.S Alumni Association.
Frank enjoyed family travel to Hawaii, Florida, Myrtle Beach and Virginia Beach. He was an excellent musician since high school. He played bass guitar and sang in several of his own bands for 30 years. In recent years, he enjoyed singing karaoke.
He was an excellent bowler and participated in bowling tournaments, where he scored a 260. He had a warm, caring personality and a great sense of humor. He gave the best hugs to family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him
Frank is survived by his wife, Patricia (Graebing) Reed who he married on May 23, 1975, and his daughter Caitlyn Reed, of Ontario, Ohio. He is also survived by his brother, William Reed, of Mansfield, Ohio; and two sisters: Judith Reed Cameron, of Salem, Ohio, and Bonnie Reed Hetcel and her husband, Frank, of Lake Milton, Ohio
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Ethel Hager Cameron, and Ina Duncan Reed Sarvey; he was also preceded by still born twin siblings, Vickie Lynn Reed and Richard Lee “Ricky” Reed.
Family will be present to receive friends on Saturday, June 13, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Home. Services will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 2:00 PM with the Tri State Burial Group according military honors.
In compliance with Ohio State Regulations and in connection to the COVID-19 public health crisis, proper social distancing will be observed, and masks are recommended.
