There once was a woman who was rumored to have lived when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. She boasted that her first car was a wheel and her first apartment was a cave beautifully decorated with ancient paintings. To me, she was “Oh ancient one;” to my sister, “Oh stubborn one.” To everyone else, she was just Kathy.
Kathryn Ellen Elizabeth Kolopajlo (Grzeskowiak) January 13, 1956 BC – January 21, 2021. The youngest and only daughter of the late Edward Vincent Anthony Grzeskowiak and Dorothy Elizabeth Grzeskowiak (Leverenz); younger sister to Andrew Grzeskowiak of Santa Clara, CA, Mark Grzeskowiak of Westminister, CA, Peter Grzeskowiak of Yucaipa, CA, and Matthew Grzeskowiak of Moreno Valley, CA. She is also survived by a myriad of nieces and nephews, and so many others that she “adopted” as family over the years.
Above all else, she was a devoted mother to her two daughters: Kari Turvey (Kolopajlo) and Sara Kolopajlo. Her greatest joy in life was being the most incredible grandmother to Kari’s three children: Emma (Boo bear), Tristan (Trissy), and her miracle baby, Eryk. Slumber parties, bubble baths, and silly string wars were always in store when “Grandma adventures” were to be had!
For the last 16 years, Kathy worked as a CNA at Moundview Healthcare in Moundsville, WV. She cared for each and every patient as family, and frequently boasted that she could run circles around some of the younger aides- despite being short a toe!
At the request of her family, as per her wishes, there will be no service of any kind.
“She may have been old, but she was HIP!”
