Kathern Fay Linger

Kathern Fay (Cogar) Linger died at home on Tuesday December 26, 2017 after a lengthy illness. She was born on April 24, 1932 on Devils Backbone, Replete WV a daughter of the late Morgan and Fern (Rexroad) Cogar.
Kathern was a homemaker and helped work the family fruit orchard, Linger Farms. Some of her favorite pastimes included attending yard sales, cooking for family, and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kathern’s house was always full of children of all ages, and members of the community fondly remember the times they spent visiting the farm. She was quick to include any and every one into her life, as shown by her famous 4th of July reunions where she has hosted over 100 friends and family members for two decades. Kathern attended Mount Zion United Methodist Church. She was best known for her unwavering kindness, unconditional love for her family, and steadfast faith. Kathern left an everlasting footprint on the hearts of all who knew her and will be missed greatly.
Kathern is survived by six sons: James Linger of Negley, Phillip Linger (Cindy) of Rogers, Steven Linger (Susie) of Calcutta, Claude C Linger Jr.(Deborah) of Negley, Donald Linger (Jody, deceased) of Lisbon, John Linger(Dana) of Negley; three daughters: Karen Johnson (David) of Rogers, Patricia McCoy (Don) of Rogers, JaneAnn Linger Fucci (Joe) of Chippewa, PA; a brother Norris Cogar of Buffalo, NY; a sister: Jocelyn Singleton of Langhorn, PA: twenty grandchildren: Kimberly (Terry) Rankin, Andy (Katie) Johnson, Adam (Janice) Johnson, Jeremy (Jessica) Linger, Morgan (Kate) Linger, Sara (Clark) Rolli, Phillip (Erika) Linger, Angie (Brian) Karmie, Kelly (Adam Boyer) Linger, Kristen (Jordan) Crabtree, Katie McCoy, Matthew (Laura) McCoy, Kyle Linger, Kevin Linger, Shane Hamilton, Garrett Hamilton, Aura Fucci, Joseph Fucci, Reva McCullough, Johnny Linger; thirty one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Kathern was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Claude C. Linger Sr; a son: Joseph Linger; a great grandson: Drew Mason Johnson; two sisters: Jean Hayzlett and Necia Cogar as well as a daughter-in-law: Jody Linger.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Thursday December 28, 2017 at 7 pm with Pastor James Rhodes and grandson Terry Rankin officiating
Family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta funeral home on Thursday December 28, 2017 from 1-3 and 5-7 pm
Burial will take place at Newville Cemetery in Newville, WV.
