Josephine Pubal, 96 of Fairpoint, Ohio died Saturday March 28, 2020 at Forest Hills Nursing Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

She was born August 27, 1923 a daughter of the late Augustus and Laura (Palombi) Melet in Fairpoint, Ohio.

Her parents were from Cori, Italy and the family name was originally Milita.

In Italy her parents were known as Augustino and Laura (Annziata Palombi) Melet.

Josephine was the oldest member of the Polish American Club in Fairpoint, Ohio and was very active in the former Fairpoint Catholic Church as a money counter.

She was also a member of the St. Clairsville Bowling League.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry Pubal Jr. and a son Raymond Pubal.

Additionally she was preceded by her siblings, Henry, Albert, Pat and Joseph Melet and Ida Tisko and Lana Kalis.

Josephine is survived by her children, Patrick Pubal of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Dennis Pubal of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Kenneth (Suz) Pubal of Belmont, Ohio.

In addition she is survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Private visitation will be held for the family on Wednesday April 1, 2020.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday April 2, 2020 in Union Cemetery with Fr. Thomas Chillog officiating.

Memorial contributions will benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of her son Raymond Pubal and her nephew Chester Kalis.

    She was such an uplifting and amazing person - full of spirit and cheerfulness. Encounters with her ALWAYS left me smiling! I’m sorry that social distancing is disrupting the wake she deserves. Many of us will mourn her privately. May perpetual light shine upon her forever.
