HOLMES, Joseph L., 67, of Moundsville, W.Va., died Friday, February 7, 2020 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born June 29, 1952, a son of Sylvia Berisford Shepherd and the late Leon Holmes. He was a member of the Solid Rock Baptist Church and retired from Wheeling Hospital.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Norick Holmes, and one nephew, Brandon Holmes.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Shirley Hall Holmes; two children, Joseph Holmes and Helen (Robert) McHenry; two brothers, Melvin Holmes and Eugene Holmes; one sister, Julie Toland; four grandchildren, Lorelai, Levi, Karis, and Isaac; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the CARE Funeral Home 1500 Second Street, Moundsville, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 11 am with Pastor Bill Henthorn officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.
