TOGETHER AGAIN

Joseph Edward LaScola died at home on May 27, 2019 following a brief illness. He was born in Wellsville on May 3, 1933 a son of the late Phillip and Angelina (Samarco) LaScola. Having spent much of his life in the area Joe retired after 2 terms as Mayor of Wellsville. He graduated from Wellsville High School Class of 1951 and completed His Master’s Degree in education at Eastern Michigan. Joe was coach of the State Champion Basketball Team at Holy Redeemer High School in Detroit, Michigan in 1960. He taught, coached, and served the public, Joe was blessed to have touched so many lives over the years.

Joe is survived by two sons: Dante LaScola of Wellsville and John LaScola and his companion Cathy Zimmer of Wellsville; two daughters: Mary Frazier and her husband Rick of Wellsville and Ann Phillips and her husband Mike of Brooksville FL and four grandchildren: Michael Phillips of Wellsville, Alex Phillips of Pittsburgh, Gracie LaScola of Wellsville and Joseph LaScola of Wellsville.

In addition to his parents Joe was preceded in death by his wife Pauline (Hartford) LaScola; his son Joseph Paul LaScola; seven brothers: Charles, John “Chappy,” James, Tom, Paul, Anthony “Buddy” and Phillip “Jake” and a sister Margaret Trideco.

 

A memorial service will be held on Friday May 31, 2019 at 12 pm at the Care Funeral and Cremation Specialists-MacLean Chapel with Father Scott Kopp from Holy Trinity Parish as Celebrant.

 

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

    I’m sorry I did not find this out until today. My thoughts and prayers to the family. I always love seeing Joe when I would be visiting and staying with my grandparents, Leona and Tom. He always treated me so kindly. And he was wonderful to have around. I’m sorry for your loss.
