Jane Evelyn (Culp) Rudder, 86 of Wellsville passed away at Calcutta Health Care on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 following a lengthy illness.
She was born on July 29, 1929 at her parents’ house on Danbury Avenue in Wellsville, and lived there most of her life. She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1947. During her life Jane worked at Megheen’s Restaurant and Louise’s restaurant in Wellsville and also at Waterford Park. She always sacrificed greatly for her children and always encouraged their education. She lost four babies to miscarriage. One baby girl was named Jana after Dr. Janis Lauva who had tried so hard to save the baby’s life. Her friendships were very important to her especially her childhood friends. She loved country music, especially singer Jim Reeves. She was also a lifelong fan of the soap operas “The Guiding Light” and “The Young & the Restless” and was known for her meatballs and signature kolachi nut rolls. Jane was baptized and married at Central Methodist Church but she also attended and sang in the choir of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two sons: Randy Wayne Rudder and his wife Clare of Nashville, TN and Robert Charles Rudder and his wife Amy of Wellsville, OH; a daughter: Sharon Ann Rudder of Wellsville, OH; three brothers: George E. Culp and his wife Wilma of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, Robert J. Culp of State College, PA and John J. Culp and his wife Pat of Houston, Texas and two grandchildren: Jonathan Rudder of Cleveland, OH and Abigail Jane Rudder of Nashville, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Margaret Ruth (Torrence) Culp; her husband Robert W. Rudder whom she married on September 14, 1948; two sisters: Margaret (Culp) Alexander of Fairborn, OH and Grace (Culp) Kosch of Corry, PA.
Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Noon with Bishop Bill Rudder officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville Funeral Home on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 3 to 7 P.M.
