James W.  “Jim”  Harkness

James “Jim” W. Harkness, passed away at home on January 19, 2021 at the age of 72. He was born July 17, 1948 in Sewickley, PA, but was raised and resided in Wheeling, WV.
Jim graduated from Triadelphia High School and joined the U.S. Navy where he served 6 years as Sonarman. Furthering his education, he graduated from West Liberty University with a degree in english and philosophy. Later, he continued on by obtaining his law degree as a graduate of Duquesne University. With that degree, Jim retired as a U.S. Attorney with the Social Security Administration.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Vallee (McIlwain) Harkness; sister Diann Beckwith.
Jim is survived by his wife Sharon Harkness; brothers Bruce (Deborah) Harkness and Warren (Barbara) Harkness; sister Jennifer (Stan) Lipinski; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio or Marshall County Animal Shelter.
