James “Jumbo” Vaughn Jr. of East End was called home with family by his side on Friday June 30th, 2017.
He was born in East Liverpool on November 18, 1946 a son of the late James Vaughn Sr. and Ruth (Wotring) Judy
James served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was on the USS Navy Carrier Forrestal during the July 29, 1967 disaster that claimed the lives of 134 Navy Personnel and injured many more.
After retirement from General Motors of Lordstown Ohio, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going to his favorite 3WS oldies concerts and above all rooting for the Steelers.
James is survived by his daughter: Holly Tripp and her husband Jeff of Beaver Falls; two sisters: Barbara Barto of Wellsville and Judith (Ron) Burns of Canton OH and four grandchildren for whom he adored and was extremely proud of: Caden Tripp, Sophie Tripp, Jenna Myers and Julie Myers as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Thomas Vaughn and Jerry Vaughn.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Thursday July 6, 2017 at 11AM with Norm Eckert officiating. The Tri State Burial group will accord full military honors.
Family will be present to received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday July 5, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM
