JAMES R. MCCORD, 71.  OF WHEELING, WV Passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

Jim was born May 3, 1950 to the late Washington C. and Marilyn McCord of Wellsburg.  He is survived by his wife Linda of Wheeling, his children Jason (Cindy), Damon (Lisset), and Bridget Kosut (Kevin) all of Follansbee; and his sister Becky Uhlly of Beech Bottom.  He had 6 grandchildren: Piper and Lachlyn, Ethan and Allison, and Keira and Lilly (with their little brother expected in the spring).  Also surviving are his step children, Phil and Erica Wiethe (sons Nick and Max) of South Lyon, MI, Brian and Debi Wiethe of Adena, OH, and Jeffrey and Jennifer Wiethe of Union City, NJ.

Jim graduated Bethany High School in 1968, and Bethany College, Class of 1972.  He was a pilot in the US Navy, a time he held very near to his heart. He was very proud that his two sons also joined the Navy.  He was later employed by Schiappa Coal Company in Wintersville, OH, and then many years with Combined Insurance Company.  He spent his retirement years at Riesbecks in Elm Grove, where he eventually met his wife Linda.

He was a member of Beech Bottom Community Christian Church, and attended St Mark Lutheran Church in Wheeling.

Jim loved fishing and spending time outdoors with his children, and his grandkids.  He enjoyed traveling the state, visiting and photographing the state parks, and especially his favorite, Spruce Knob.  He thoroughly enjoyed creating his wire sculptures, “pen and ink” drawing, and other arts.

Private service and a Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
