Hugh C. “Jake” Campbell Jr., 86 of East Liverpool, OH passed away at his residence on Friday, May 4, 2018 following an extended illness.
He was born in Midland, PA on June 11, 1931 a son to the late Hugh Calvin Campbell Sr. and Mary (Brown) Campbell. Living his entire life in this area, he worked as a Sub Station Operator for Crucible Steel before retiring in 1982, where he then worked for the former Astra Rentals. Jake coached baseball at West Point and at the former Old Timers Baseball Complex. He loved hunting and Little League Baseball.
He is survived by his son: Kenneth Campbell and his wife Kathy of Calcutta, OH; a daughter: Brenda Gerhart and her husband Smoke of Waco, TX; a brother: Carl Campbell of West Point, OH; a sister: Eileen Mellenger of Glenmoor, OH; grandchildren: Shane Jenkins, Jason Campbell, Stacie Campbell, Kyle Gerhart, Neil Campbell and Zach Campbell and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Donna Jean (Hemsley) Campbell whom he married in 1950; two brothers: William and Ben Campbell and seven sisters: Patricia Campbell, Rosella Shook, Margaret Kennedy, Evelyn Crane, Joyce Birch, Dorothy Grimes and Norma Owens.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 1 PM with Mike Simms officiating.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta funeral home on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.
