Helen Jane Plate, 78 of Wellsville, Ohio passed away at her residence on Friday, September 7, 2018 following an extended illness.
She was born in Garrett, Kentucky on November 20, 1939 a daughter of the late Herbert Thomas and Stella (Stevens) Perdue. Living most of her life in this area, she worked at one time as a waitress for the former Meades and Cindy’s Restaurants, operated a house cleaning service for 15 years and attended Lake Mount Church of Christ. Helen loved her family greatly, she enjoyed doing crafts, reading, singing in the church choir and listening to gospel music.
She is survived at home by her husband Leonard Plate Sr. whom she married on October 20, 1957; three sons: Leonard Plate Jr. and his wife Rondala of Negley, OH, Wayne Plate of Pigeon Forge, TN and Brian Plate and his wife Suzie of Austintown, OH; five grandchildren: Carissa, Dara, Cody, Mindy and Jerrod; five great grandchildren: Lily, Jaxson, Zoey, Maleena and Juliana; two sisters: Bessie Adkins and her husband Ervin of Navarre, OH, Linda Hatfield and her husband Jackie of Hardy, KY and a brother Richard Perdue.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother: Clyde Perdue and two sisters: Bernice Burchett and Evelyn Woods.
Services will be held at the Lake Mount Church of Christ on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 11 AM with Minister Rod Kasler officiating. Burial will take place in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 1 to 5 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
