Harold D. Davis Sr., 85 passed away at St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center in Columbiana, OH on Monday, April 30, 2018 after a brief illness.
He was born in Candler, NC on April 19, 1933 the son of the late Gilbert H. and Florence (Carver) Davis. He was a 1951 graduate of Candler High School and moved to this area in 1972. Harold attended the former Trinity Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and served as Trustee and was the owner of the Credit Bureau, Potters Adjustment and J & H Medical Billing Services for 23 years before retiring in 1995. He was on the Board of Apple Grove Homes, a member on the East Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, the Columbiana County Mental Health Board, a past president and board member of the Columbiana County Boy Scouts and the United Way of Southern Columbiana County. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Joyce (Smathers) Davis whom he married July 21, 1951 and five grandchildren: Alexis Kristine Stevens (Chet) of Las Vegas, NV, Deanna Lynn Davis-Story (Brad) of St. Augustine, FL, Jessica Marie Davis-Carr (Tim) of Grantpass, OR, Harold D. Davis III of Grantpass, OR and Hartland Joy Davis of Binan City Laguna in the Philippines; sister-in-law Virginia Eilene Davis of Sheffield Lake, OH; nieces: Linda M. Dillingham of Kingwood, Texas, Donna Dillingham-Cook of Beaumont, TX and Patricia Davis of Hebron, KY and daughters-in-law: Marcia Ann Davis of Grantpass, OR and Jocelyn Espedido-Davis of Binan City Laguna in the Philippines.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son: Harold D. Davis Jr.; a daughter: Deborah Lynn Hewitt; a brother Jack Davis; a sister: Betty Davis Dillingham and a granddaughter: Amy Marie Sanati.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer funeral home on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 7PM with Rev. Dr. Stephen Cramer officiating.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta funeral home on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 4 PM up until the time service at 7 PM.
