Georgia M. Powell Gibson, 85 passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Acuity Specialty Hospital in Weirton following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Fairmont, West Virginia a daughter to the late Joseph and Pearl (Wilson) Vanfosson. She lived most of her life in this area, was a homemaker, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two sons: Terry A. Powell of Urbana, OH and Ricky G. Powell of East Liverpool, OH; a brother:  Alfred Vanfosson of Oklahoma; a sister:  Marjorie Luketic of Aliquippa, PA; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband:  Harold R. Powell; her 2nd husband:  Gene Gibson; a son:  Kenny Powell; on grandson:  Ricky G. Powell Jr., eight brothers and four sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 3 P.M. with Pastor Norm Eckert officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the First Christian Church in Chester, West Virginia:  330 Indiana Avenue, Chester, WV 26034.  Burial will take place in Columbiana County Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta funeral home on Saturday, May 14, 2016 one hour prior to the service.
