George A. Yaney, 86 of Wellsville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born on January 13, 1930 in Wellsville, Ohio the son to the late Jacob and Clara (Frischkorn) Yaney. Living his entire life in this area, he was a 1947 graduate of Wellsville High School, worked as a Dairy Farmer and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. George was a former Yellow Creek Township Trustee, a member of the Wellsville Masonic Lodge #180, he received his 32 Degree with Scottish Rite – Valley of Steubenville, a member of Yellow Creek Grange and the Southern Ruritan Club.

He is survived at home by his wife Geraldine (Haustman) Johnston-Yaney whom he married December 18, 1994; three sons: Charles Johnston and his wife Karen of East Liverpool, OH, David Johnston and his wife Susan of Selma, TX and Michael Johnston of LaGrange MI; three daughters: Jean Burchett and her husband Curtis of East Liverpool, OH, Carol Endicott of East Liverpool, OH and Patty Moore of Dowagaic, MI; a sister: Dolly Burton and her husband Don of Lisbon, OH; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grand children and one great great grandchild.

Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11 AM with Pastor Eric Edwards of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville funeral home on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM with Masonic Services being held at 7:30 PM.
