Dorothy Fishback Stansbury, 96, of Wellsville, OH passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at East Liverpool Hospital.
She was born in Irondale, OH, on March 13, 1924, the daughter of the late Paul Bert and Emma (Grimm) Fishback. Dorothy graduated from Toronto High School with the Class of 1943. She retired from Sterling China where she was employed as a Dipper. Dorothy was a member of the V.F.W Post 5647 where she served as past President and Secretary for 20 years. She was also a member of a monthly card club started by her and friends many years ago, that she continued to attend until early 2020. She was a member of Wellsville United Methodist Church, and later in life, attended Beechwood Free Methodist.
Dorothy is survived by: her daughters, Billie Jo Smith of East Liverpool and Jona (Duane Skeens) Smith of Wellsville; grandchildren: Brandi (Bryan) Miller, Wellsville, Dustin (Ashley) Smith, Shadyside, OH, Zachary (Amber) Plumley, Salem, Taylor (Vontae) Plumley, Wintersville, Davey (Traci) Gaetano, Columbus, and Jason Gaetano, East Liverpool, and her “granddaughter in heart” Ricki She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Sierra Gaetano and Dominic Gaetano, of Columbus, Levi Miller and Bryar Miller of Wellsville, Bentley Plumley, Ryan Plumley, Hope Plumley and Allana Wright, all from Salem, Kody Neal, Karlee Smith and Kaitlyn Smith, Shadyside, OH, Weslynn Plumley, Salem, and Mila Toudle of Wintersville, as well as her “ great-grandchild in heart” Scarlett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stansbury, whom she married on January 14, 1961; her son, David Gaetano; three brothers: William, Bert, and Charles “Sonny” Fishback; and three sisters: Alberta Grimm, Betty Hughes, and Joyce Shamp.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 5PM-7PM at CARE Funeral and Cremation Specialists- MacLean Chapel 509 Riverside Avenue, Wellsville, OH. A private funeral service will be held Saturday at 12PM at the MacLean Chapel with Pastor Dirk Hall from The Living Well Church in Wellsville officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Wellsville. Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her late husband, John Stansbury, who passed away July 3, 1978.
