Dorotha Smith

Dorotha Smith, age 95 of Wellsville passed away, on Friday, February 14, 2020, at her daughters home in Pittsford, N.Y. after a brief illness.

Born in Millport, Ohio on December 8, 1924, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Frank and Grace (Laughlin) McKarns and had lived her entire life in the Wellsville area.

She was a homemaker and diary farmer on the family farm, a graduate of the Salineville School, and was the oldest living member and still very active in the Bethel United Presbyterian Church.

Mrs Smith was preceded in death by her husband Hugh M. Smith in 1997. They were married on April 29, 1944.

Survivors include, two sons, Gerald Smith and his wife, Bernice, of Wellsville, and Wayne Smith and his wife, Catherine, also of Wellsville. Two daughters, Jeannette Smith and Barbara Hirst both of Pittsford, N.Y. 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Howard McKarns and three sisters, Mildred Murray, Leona Finnicum, and Edith Baker.

Services will be held at the Bethel United Presbyterian Church on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mark Wilds officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery.

Family will be present to receive friends at the MacLean Chapel of the Care Funeral and Cremation Services on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, from 4 to 7 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Missonary Fund or the Deacons of the Bethel U.P. Church or the U.R. Medicine Home Care Visiting Nurse Hospice at 2180 Empire Blvd. Webster, N.Y. 14580.
