David Palmer

David W. Palmer, age 74, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020 at the home of his daughter following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Palmer was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, on Aug. 9, 1945 and lived in the area his entire life. The son of the late Melvin Palmer and Dorothy King Palmer. David graduated from East Liverpool High School with the class of 1964. After graduation he served his country in the Marine Corp stationed in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart military decoration. He later worked in the storeroom at the Sammis Power Plant until his retirement in 2005. David was a member of Hope Christian Fellowship Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 374 and the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group

Survivors include his son, Chris Palmer and his wife, Theresa, of East Liverpool. Two daughters: Kelley Wright and her husband, PJ., of Wellsville and Jenny Owens and her boyfriend, Charlie, of New Waterford as well as one step son, Mark Battestelli and his wife, Natalie, of Columbus; one brother, Ronald Palmer, of San Diego; David also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Megan, Bradley, Griffin, Natasha, Garrett, Justin, Ava, and Enza, and three great-grandchildren: Marisa, Madison, and Dominic.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was his sister, Nancy Stoneburner as well as his great-granddaughter, Taylor.

In compliance with Ohio State Regulations and in connection to the COVID-19 public health crisis, a private family service will be held at the Martin MacLean Altmeyer funeral home in Calcutta. Public burial (with proper social distancing) will take place in Spring Hill Cemetery immediately following the service where the Tri State Burial Group will accord full military honors.
