Charles L. ‘Chuck’ Phillips,87, of Saint Clairsville died Thursday, October 20, 2022,
at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry Ohio.

He was born August 4, 1935 in Bellaire, OH a son of the late Sarah (Bass) and
Clayton Phillips.

Chuck was a Navy Veteran, during the Korean War. Following his military service,
he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree
from West Virginia University. Chuck worked for the St. Clairsville Richland
School District, where he taught special education, 6th Grade Social Studies,
coached Jr. High Basketball, and acted as Athletic Director at both the Jr. and
Senior High School levels. He was also a member of the Thoburn United
Methodist Church and the Saint’s Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma
Jo (Lambros) Phillips on September 14, 2013 and a brother, Clayton Patrick
Phillips.

Surviving are his Son, John Phillips and his wife, Vera, nephew Patrick Phillips of
Bellaire, niece Sarah Corrigan of Bellaire, nieces Kirsten Long and Cynthia Speer of
Charlotte, North Carolina.

Family and friends will be received at CARE Funeral and Cremation Specialists,204
West Main Street St. Clairsville, OH 43950 on Thursday, October 27 from 4pm
until 8pm. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Noon at
Holly Memorial Gardens with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Full Military Honors
performed by the Belmont County Veterans Honor Guard.

    Mr. Phillips was my teacher and principal at Glencoe Ohio grade school. He was a great teacher and a caring person. I Used to see him when and his wife worked at the mall and later when he came into Sam's Club and always talked to him. He will be missed.
