Gifts & Memorial Donations

Barbara Elaine Cuichta, a beloved mother, grandmother, and Registered Nurse, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023, in Moundsville, West Virginia. She was born on June 8, 1946, in Marshall County, West Virginia. Barbara lived a life filled with compassion and dedication, inspiring those around her to be their best selves.

Barbara’s career as a Registered Nurse spanned many years, working in the offices of Dr. Kenneth J. Allen, Dr. Ashrath, and Dr. Ventosa and at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. Her commitment to the well-being of others was evident in the care she provided to countless patients throughout her career.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Barbara was actively involved in her community. She served as a past secretary for the former Eagles Aerie 499 in Moundsville and was a devoted member of the Boy Scouts, serving as a Scouting Unit Leader and a Den Leader. Her involvement in these organizations allowed her to positively impact the lives of young people and foster growth and development in future generations.

Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband, Chester Cuichta, as well as her parents Clarence and Bertha Mae (Broemsen) Allen, her son Chester Allen Cuichta, her grandson Kevin Lee “Squid” Cuichta Jr., and her siblings Dr. Kenneth Allen, Robert Allen, and Dr. Nancy Cairns. While her departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, her memory and legacy will continue to shine brightly.

Barbara leaves behind a loving family, including her sons Kevin (Jennifer) Cuichta Sr. of Moundsville, WV, and David (Ana) Cuichta of Gallatin, TN. She also leaves behind her granddaughter Rebecca Perry of Brilliant, OH, as well as Emily (Steven) Kuhn of Martins Ferry, OH, and Alisha Estadt of St. Clairsville, OH and several great-grandchildren. Her family was a source of great joy and pride for Barbara, and their love and memories will forever be cherished.

Barbara’s furry companions, Blonde and Peanut, were also dear to her heart. She leaves behind these two precious dogs, whose loyalty and companionship brought her much comfort and happiness.

A Memorial Service Gathering to celebrate Barbara’s remarkable life will be held at the CARE Funeral Homes & Crematory, Moundsville location on July 14th, starting at 12pm, with the service commencing at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions and donations may be made out to the Marshall County Animal Shelter, as Barbara was allergic to flowers but had a deep affection for animals.

Barbara Elaine Cuichta was a source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, dedication, and loving spirit will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.

I went to Moundsville High with Barbara. I enjoyed seeing her now and then over the years and talking about "old times" and of course, grandchildren. πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™
