Austin “Pappy”Richard Frye, 80, of Moundsville, WV. passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at his residence.
He was born in Wind Ridge, PA on June 13, 1940 to the late Austin Russell & Gladys Gertrude (Stuckey) Frye.
Austin was a retired coal miner from McElroy mines and a well-decorated US Army Veteran, who served three tours in Vietnam with the 101 Screaming Eagles Airborne Battalion from which he received several Purple hearts and the Bronze Star to name only a few of his medals that he earned while serving his country,
In addition to his parents, Austin was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Frye; son, Jim Dolin; grandson, Michael Hurst; brothers, Carl “Butch” and Bob Frye; sisters, Beulah, Faye Rhome, Texie Reynolds and June Sloan and a nephew, Charles Sloan.
Austin was survived by a wife, Carol Frye of FL; daughters, Misty Dolin of Shadyside, OH and Tammy (Dave) Debolt of Moundsville; brother, Vernon Frye of Moundsville; three grandchildren, David (April) Dolin of Glen Dale, WV, William Dolin of Shadyside, OH and Ashley (Steve) Johnson of Moundsville; several great-grandchildren and nephew, Charles Frye of Moundsville.
Per Pappy’s request there will be no services held at this time.
Arrangements handled by CARE Funeral & Cremation Service, 1500 Second Street, Moundsville.
